Question by mufasa42: Am I helping or hurting the environment by burning my trash?
We live in the middle of nowhere, the only thing they recycle here is scrap metal, so of course I take that in. But other than that, we burn our trash. We reuse what we can, and not much actually goes in the garbage. We try to live green (without being extreme, though) Does it matter either way, if I throw it away or burn it?

Burning is generally considered bad. It consumes oxygen and releases toxic gasses as well as particulate matter into the atmosphere.Try composting for organic matter.
Do not burn plastics.
