They strike up partnerships and acquire sponsorship from government funded and already established charities.

Green products are being associated with many different things. For example the cliché ‘evergreen’ for a product launch describes how the use of the product or the long term popularity will last a long long time.

But back to your question about green products and consumerism, having food that is organic or grown in a manner that is free from chemicals is now rising in costs, but the nutrients in the chemical free food as we well know is full of more nutrients.

Manufacturing these types of organic grub is great for the environment and has that home made bonus about it. Companies that carry this message on a local level with a local message and team up with equally as good ‘green’ consumers. For example fairs where farmers meet up and show the produce.

In Chelsea they have a growing competitions, not sure if they check for any additives but this is a great place for people and communities to communicate and forge their message, before taking it to the mass market.

The mass market is where the problems often arise. Big contracts with supermarkets can make or brake good companies, depending on the locations price budget often the cheapest farmer wins.

This is a part of globalisation that many countries have not anticipated. To argue this case I would choose the seasons debate. Eating local produce that is consumed at a tradition creating time of the year. But as all consumers now know if we want strawberries in the winter we inevitably will have strawberries.
