I currently live in a foreign country, i have a bachelor degree in journalism and i’m trying to get a green card to live in America, my question is, what can i do to become a french teacher, my level in french is perfect, i speak and write the language equally good. So is it more interesting to teach in a elementary school or highschool, how does it work there ?

If you had teaching credentials in another country, it would be a lot easier. Your degree is in journalism, not foreign language education. You are missing the critical teaching methods classes. Your French may be perfect, but do you also have the credits other areas of French education such as culture and composition that may be required? Probably in most states, it is possible to get teaching certification by passing a Praxis test as long as you have a bachelors degree. Some states do require some education area courses, in addition to the test.

I suggest that you go to the Dept of Ed website for the state where you wish to live and find out about getting certification. You can contact them directly with your specific questions. I would suggest that you aim for secondary (high school) credentials. It is rare for a school district to employ a full-time French teacher for elementary.
