Obama wanted to use ethanol…a bio-fuel but some say that rather than helping the environment it could cause further problems.
Barack Obama decided that it
was better to accelerate global food price inflation than lose an
election, and now our planet is stuck with nonsensical energy policies
that amount to criminal irresponsibility. The majority of the world’s
corn is grown in the United States, and an ever increasing percentage
of that crop is ending up in gas tanks instead of stomachs. The corn
required to fill the 18.5 gallon fuel tank of a Toyota Camry with
ethanol could feed one human being for 270 days. Barack Obama has
been repeatedly informed by his own advisors of the ecological and
food supply destruction that biofuels have created, yet he persists in
promoting biofuel production while blocking essential drilling for oil
on American soil.
Obama’s biofuel plan is diverting increasing amounts of soybean
and rapeseed oil to biodiesel production, and world supplies of
cooking oil are low. Corn, soybeans, and rapeseed are the foundation
of America’s food supply because they feed our farm animals which give
us dairy products, eggs, and meat. When the cost of animal feed is
pushed up by biofuel production, the price American families pay for
those food items also rise. Biofuels require
large amounts of nitrogen fertilizers to produce, and the price of
fertilizer rose by more than 200% in 2007 alone. Nitrogen fertilizers
are largely made from natural gas, which experienced no significant
price gain in 2007, so the main driving force of fertilizer price
hyperinflation is undeniably biofuel production. Biofuels are pushing
up the cost of all foods that require fertilizers, including rice,
wheat, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, and broccoli.
So there it is…it seriously is going to change our lives (our wallets mor likely…..) and the world could just end up suffering more for the sake of our evironment….but don’t you agree its our reward for screwing up Earth?
