If the plant ABSORBED green light, then there would be no green light coming into your eye. For you to see something, light must reflect from the object into your eye. Therefore, for you to see green light, green light must be reflected. If no light is reflected you see the absence of light which is black.
Actually, a green plant absorbs and, therefore, uses the other colors of light except for green which it reflects. If you put a green plant in pure green light the plant would die as pure green light lacks the colors a green plant uses.
