Question by Paul G: Where do you draw the line between greed and asking for a decent wage?
I am getting sick of hearing people talk about capitalism and the free market’s “invisible hand” as some kind of greater good or universal justice. I have always been a hard worker, often working blue collar jobs, and believe that there’s a fine line between asking for a fair wage and being greedy, even though often times it’s hard to justify to others (usually the rich and greedy who don’t want to pay a cent more than they have to) where that line is. I get sick of hearing pro capitalist ideals that being rich is within the grasp of everyone, and that the poor just have to suck it up and chalk it up to their lack of success. To me it’s a lie, the “game” is rigged, not everyone has a fair chance, the rich make sure they stay rich by squashing others that challenge them (both legally and illegally, we’ve all heard of how wealthy companies have bought out small green energy firms only to dismantle them), and I understand why people would adopt something like Communism, because of how sick to death they have become of scratching a living off of rocks while the fruits of their labour go to someome else. So how do you counter someone with the belief that it’s okay for children to work in sweatshops simply because they were dealt a bad card by the invisible hand that guides the free market, with an idea that business is not above morality or human rights, that those in powerful positions of business as well as politics are responsible for their actions?

I draw a fine line between someone greedy & someone generous. We’re being tested everyday & I wouldn’t put it past the generous person that he doesn’t second guess himself on a subconscious level.
Our surroundings can strongly manipulate our thoughts, & that’s already manifest a great potential in change.
Just like the fine line between a rich person & poor person. A man with plenty of money can feel poor while the person without even 5% of what the other person had can feel as if he doesn’t need anything else. In the end everything comes down to your perspective, & perspectives are changing everyday & without acknowledgement.
