I don’t see why not–and there’s a lot of things a company/business can do. Granted, a business–especially a small one–has limits–so I’m not suggesting you try do do all of these–just throwing out some ideas:
First–if you gear your efforts to things that will also help employees save money, you’ll get lots of co-operation–and theres a lot of ways to do that AND help the environment. In fact, MOST of the things an individual or company can do will also save money. Talk about win-win!
>switch any incandescent bulbs to energy-efficient ones (a bit of up-front cost that pays for itself quickly and then cuts costs) linked to a program to provide the employees a chance to buy the bulbs through the firm at a discount
> organize carpools–or even better (if your city makes this possible) provide mass transit passes at a discount (my employer does this).
>Talk to local banks about setting up a program for employees to finance home improvements–especially solar power–and think about installing them in yourcompany facilities too. This requires some capital investment–butsolar power has gotten much cheaper; it will pay for itself and then just sit there saving the company money.
Good luck!
