I just bought a condo in brooklyn and initially the owner/builder had a deck in the plan. I live on the second floor and the deck was supposed to be on the roof of the garage which is on the first floor. The proposed size was 18 x 13 and for some reason he was not interested in building that before the closing. Now its upto me what to do with the space. Now the question is where to start and what to and do?

My hair is yellow and green. It looks ok if I can brighten (lighten it to silvery) it easily I want to so how do I do it.
Toners seem to not very effective to me at least for very long term and have upset my hair more than helped lately. I just want to leave it one color but it doesn’t stay, and no going to hair dresser cause they always try to change my hair.

If you have tried a toner and didnt like it, you should see a hair dresser.. Be strict and tell them exactly what you want done. I know the anxiety that can occur going to a salon, my hair is very long and black and they always try to shorten it and bleach it out! Tell them exactly what you want done! Or, like I do, visit a Sally’s if they have one where you live.. or any other store that sells salon products. You can buy good hair dye and toner for cheap. Good luck

I think they should make new building codes that incorporate all these ideas into new building codes

solar panels
wind generators
passive ventilation
rainwater collection
super glass
geothermal heating pumps
solar heating
eaves
compact florescent bulbs

There are building codes that require all buildings to have bathrooms and fire exits. You can no longer have an outhouse and just one door. If buildings have to abide by those standards, then there is no reason why they shouldn’t abide by these in my book. What do you think?

It sounds very expensive.

The majority of them rely on weather as well so for example on cloudy still days there isn’t much energy being converted into electrical energy in the house you have in mind.

Not clear what you are looking for, so I’ll break it down into five categories, with an earth friendly eye:

1) Growing
Avoiding mono-culture stands, growing native species, ultra sustainables such as bamboo, pest resistant species, managing stands for selective harvest.

2) Harvesting
Using low compaction equipment, selective cutting over clear cutting, minimizing soil, undergrowth, and surface water disturbance.

3) Processing
Maximizing board foot per log yield with computer cut patterns, employing ultra thin blades, burning waste for energy.

4a) Products
Mulch, veneer, lower grade lumber, engineered products like oriented strand board.

4b) Alternatives
Metal studs, corn starch products, cocoa fiber mulch.

5) Recycling
Paper designed for recycling, ethanol production from wastes, reusing lumber in buildings.

This just scratches the surface, but maybe it will help you consider some different aspects of environmental sensitivity.
