I hear people talk about having a green collar job or a blue collar job, what does that mean?

A blue collar job is someone who works with his hands or does manual labor. These people used to wear blue denim shirts to work so they were called “blue collar”. White collar workers are people who wear suits and ties with white shirts so they are called “white collar”. Green collar is a new term and it means people who work in some kind of eco friendly job. Something that uses the principles of ecology in their work. Something that protects the environment is called green. Thus the term “green collar”.
