“Athens, Georgia is continually rated in the Top 10 Cities to Live by major publications from Consumer Reports to Rolling Stone. With the University of Georgia anchoring the city, a wide variety of entertainment, dining, recreation facilities coupled with highly rated schools, restraunts, medical facities and national champion sports activities, there are things to do and place to enjoy throughout all the seasons of the year. We are minutes from lakes, the mountains, the arts & sciences and a dominate economic center for northeast Georgian. Our quality of life is second to none. Our neighbors, our industries, our city is internationally and nationally acclaimed. The affordability and diversity of real estate opportunities are there for part time residents, temporary residents or never want to move again residents. P.S. We also are the home of the Tree That Owns Itself, unique in America and many other wonders. Go Dawgs!”
“I would suggest Suwanee…
Ranked #10 in Money Magazine's 2007 Best Places to Live rankings, more than 16,000 Suwanee residents contribute to Gwinnett County's dramatic year over year growth. Just 30 miles north of Atlanta via I-85, Lawrenceville Highway, or Buford Highway, Suwanee's growth, like many of Atlanta's communities, has surged in the last decade.
Residents rave about the strong sense of community they feel in Suwanee and take pride in their city and its natural landscapes. Suwanee boasts numerous parks and green spaces, with ongoing plans and development for more through its award-winning open space program. A diverse variety of arts and entertainment are held in the parks each year, drawing residents together frequently. Covering more than 10-acres, family-friendly Town Center Park is known as Suwanee's front yard. It is the city's most popular park and anchors Suwanee's thriving town center. Suwanee Creek Park, George Pierce Park, Main Street Park, and the Suwanee Greenway encompass more than 400 beautiful acres.
But even with the accolades and the growth, Suwanee is still a small town at heart. Last century, Old Town was the nucleus of the city. The train from Atlanta stopped in Old Town, so many businesses and homes were built there. Today, Suwanee is revitalizing and preserving Old Town while creating a new modern downtown. The city's comprehensive 2020 plans calls for managed growth while preserving its small-town feel, giving Suwanee a real "our town" appeal.”
