Green Living Articles Q&A: Can Green Spotted Puffers live in full marine conditions

Question by Broski: Can Green Spotted Puffers live in full marine conditions
I saw someone on Youtube that had young (1-3 inches) Green Spotted Puffers in a Full Marine tank with a couple of damsels. I don’t want to put them with damsels, but would like to put a small amount of live rock with them. I want what is best for the puffer, and I heard that when they are older, they prefer full marine water. Right now, I am planning on putting them in a specific gravity of about 1.012-1.016. I want to put them in about 1.021-1.024 SG. Would they be able to live full marine as young?

Yes, they should do fine in that. Here’s a link to a site/forum that has lots of good info on them. On the care page, there’s a link to an article and she tells how to adjust them to increasing saline conditions:

Think it’s in that feeding/diet article on the page. Key is to just take your time, and do it slowly so they can adjust properly.
