It is certainly not an easy project, but very attainable. First of all you will need to decide where you have room for a green. Next think of how large you want it. I had a three teared green, but I would highly recommended keeping it simple! You will need about 4 + inches of pea gravel, then course sand and then a type sandy loam mix. You will also need to purchase a Reel mower as a normal rotary mower will not work. It is a lot of hard work and you must be focused on upkeep. But the sense of accomplishment is nice to have.

If you don’t think you will have the time to keep it maintained go for the synthetic putting green. They are getting to the point where you hardly can tell the difference!
