Green Living Homes Why is my tile turning green?

Question by Wesley: Why is my tile turning green?
I have dark tile in the living room and dining room, I don’t what type it is but there are green spots turning up all over it! Why is this?
the tile is stone like btw

Im sorry to hear about your situation. If its your home then you might want to tackle it, if its a rental its not your problem, just report it.
If the green “spots” are turning up on the tile itself it might have copper in it that is anodizing? but if its in the grout it could be mold due to moisture. If its moisture related its coming from either the surface or the subfloor, surface can be taken care of by cleaning with a 10 percent bleach and detergent scrubbing, then seal the grout with a good grout sealer avail at tile stores. If its subfloor you may have a leak somewhere. Just investigate it and take pictures if you need to. Tile installers may be a good resource. Dont rule out your homeowners insurance if this is structural.
