Question by Jessica C: Need info on building green home?
My husband and I are going to build our first home and we’d like to build green. The problem is I’m not sure what kind of things can be done. I’ve heard of the more common things such as the solar panels but I’d like info on other things I haven’t heard of.
I’m having a hard time finding info online. Another problem is that in my area, building green is not at all popular. I don’t even know the cost difference in building such a home. Please help.

Building green is not cost effective, such as solar panels. The only things that payoff are 6″ exterior walls, thermal pane windows and doors, Icynene insulation, radiant barrier, geothermal heating and cooling system, and tankless water heater. Anything else is a waste of money.
