Question by Totes: Portland OR vs Dallas/Austin TX?
I am looking to move from San Diego (believe it or not I don’t like it here or the cost of living) and I am looking at the suburbs around Portland or the suburbs around Dallas or Austin … more so the suburbs outside of Dallas such as Plano, McKinney, etc.
What are the pros and cons of each? Oregon vs Dallas/Austin that is. Also, are there lots of trees, hiking paths, etc in the suburbs around Dallas? That is one thing that attracted me to Oregon, but the constant rain I hear about is sort of a turn off. We like nature.
I can use all the input as possible! Thanks!

If you can handle 8 months of rain then definitely come to Oregon! I have lived near Portland for 19 years and I love it here! Personally the green, the hiking, the biking, and the scenery are well worth the rain. Also, it rarely gets really hot or really cold here, very temperate climate. No sales tax, no smoking indoors anywhere, great schools, and downtown portland is very fun and very safe. A lot of cool places to visit in the surrounding area including: multnomah falls, Oregon Coast, Mt. Hood, Hood River, Eastern Oregon (desert), and a lot more. Check out this video that pretty much sums up portland: http://www.streetfilms.org/portland-celebrating-americas-most-livable-city/
