Question by egeorge96: what type of moss is found on roofs and is it safe for pets?
quick question. i’m having trouble finding this on the internet. i have some green roof moss. it is very soft and i’m having trouble finding out what type of moss it is. i live in central indiana. i’m trying to find out what type it is so i can see if it is safe to use as bedding for some pet toads that i have. it seems like it would work great, but i would love to do more research on it. thanks for your time.

Bad idea. No matter what type it is, it isn’t sterilized like the moss you buy, so it could potentially be full of parasites or bacteria that could hurt your frogs. Could be that its fine, but why risk it?
