Green Solutions Q&A: What solution(s) containing potassium when mixed with AgNO3 forms a yellow precipitate and a pale blue liquid?

Question by chris: What solution(s) containing potassium when mixed with AgNO3 forms a yellow precipitate and a pale blue liquid?
The solution was soluble in HCl and NaOH but it was insoluble in AgNO3. When mixed with a universal indicator it turned green. The solution itself is clear.

Best answer:

Answer by Caroline Miller
K2CO3 + AgNO3 –> Ag2CO3 = yellow
K2S2O2 + AgNO3 -> Ag2S2O2 = yellow
both K compounds are soluble in HCl and NaOH
