Sustainable Home Design Q&A: What is a good subject for a biology/education proposal?

Question by J.J.: What is a good subject for a biology/education proposal?
What is a good subject for a biology/education proposal?
I have to present a proposal to an imaginary board of directors for my technical writing class. It has to pertain to our individual majors. I am a biology major seeking educational certification. I could do a proposal on a topic in either biology, education, or both. What is a good topic?

Hi J.J.,
An organization by the name of “Common Vision” came into our neighborhood a couple of years ago with fruit trees for neighbors who promised to give them a good home. The organization has this mission statement:

"Common Vision’s mission is to cultivate ecological awareness and respect for the Earth while generating social and environmental changes towards sustainable lifestyles."

They work in communities and in schools–involving students in designing and sustaining gardens of many varieties. Children love the program and learn so much…

For your presentation you can state that as a biology major, you are collaborating with the Common Vision team to bring a particular or global biological focus or principle into the development of an urban (or rural) school garden program.

I realize this is just a presentation–not the “real thing”–but the organization has plenty on their website to draw from, and they are very approachable and helpful with assignments such as you are doing.

Here is their website!
