Lime Green Living Room Help choosing paint colors for home?

Question by cr176761: Help choosing paint colors for home?
I am moving into a home that is an open concept ranch with the dining room off the entryway and kitchen. When you walk in you can see 5 spaces. The kitchen and dining room, the living room, and a little nook that used to be a tiny bedroom before they tore the wall down. I want to do a camel tan in the living room and a chocolate brown for a reading nook and i want to keep it neutral. I am stuck on what to paint the kitchen and dining/entryway area. I have some bright red and lime green accent pieces for the kitchen already (Le Creuset red and kiwi) so it needs to complement those. Thanks :)

The house is in Maine so it has to keep that old country feel. It has medium colored wood baseboard trim around the doors and windows.

Kitchen: Robin’s Egg blue, Benjamin Moore. I would consider distressing accents. (Paint the base coat white, second coat robins egg. Run it over sporadically with hand held sand paper (not an electric sander), then wipe off dust. Using a cotton rag and some “early american stain” rub over it, allow to dry, finish with a topcoat of polyurethane gloss [easier to wipe messes off]) By distressing the blue, you add a brown that incorporates the brown in other rooms. Note: For the blue/brown to really pop, you need black accents, like appliances.

Dining: Pale green.

Instead of a solid brown, consider a salmon orange base with brown sponged over.

Tip 1: Get tester sized paints, use a scrap piece of drywall to test out all the colors and techniques.

Tip 2: When you have multiple colors in a house, consider whether there’s an area of wall that could serve as an accent wall to create faux bricks, you tape it, and using several small paper plates, lightly brush in 3 colors per “brick”, and creating new colors as well as using the existing colors, then remove tape and paint the open area dark gray. By incorporating all the colors in one area, it brings the color scheme together throughout.
