Question by oleg232000: How exactly does the visa process work if I marry a Japanese student (currently resides in US)?
I am a US citizen interested in marrying a Japanese student that is currently living and studying in NYC. How much time must elapse after the marriage for her to receive a green card or permission to work in the US or Social Security Number?

Not much, if she is right now in USA , YOU CAN CHANGE HER STATUS DIRECTLY AND ,and she will get her green card between 8 to 10 months sometimes 6 months. i think waiting for a work permit may take about 3 months but I am not sure,
if she is in Japan , she should apply to a fiancee visa, which is faster , than she can come to the states and wait for her visa, don’t marry out side the states and apply for a spouse visa because they ‘ll make her wait to get the green card to let her in the sates .
i hope that was heplful
