Question by Nobody: How can I tell if water is safe to swim in?
I live in Texas and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg swimming in public pools. There’s a creak near my house with an old dam that is no longer in use. The city maintains the dam as a tourist attraction, so it’s structurally sound. The dam causes a small pool of water. Is it safe to swim here? The creak flows into the pool, and then out so the water is circulating.

Pee in the water. If the water turns yellow I wouldn’t go in there.
