Question by joecool123_us: Potential Green tip: Could “finger foods” serve as a small step towards sustainability?
Think about it, “finger foods” are portable (usually), easy to prepare, but mostly don’t require the use of silverware and plates to serve them. Less silverware dirtied means less washing which means less water use.
Could an increase in the foods we eat with our hands be an actual positive step towards a more sustainable society?

Funny you would ask this as I’m eating some finger food – spinach and tofu wontons. They actually required more preparation and dishes (I used a pan lol) than most things I eat.
The finger food thing would definitely work in a family dining situation, since it could all be made with one or two pans and eaten from one dish. But if you’re talking individually, as my dinner exemplifies, it’s really not much of a difference. Then, if the finger foods are convenience-type foods with lots of packaging, it could be worse. Of course we could eat a lot more of nature’s finger foods, raw fruits and vegetables.
