Green Living Walls Q&A: I have dark forest green carpet in my living room and need to repaint my walls. Any suggestions?

Question by LAD: I have dark forest green carpet in my living room and need to repaint my walls. Any suggestions?
I currently have latte/tan on 3 walls and a cocoa color accent wall. I have dark red/wine pillows and wine valances. Need to update. I feel like I”m either living in a cave or a tree house. HELP!

Well at the moment your room is being described as quite dull.
You need to use lighter shades as you seem to be using quite bold colours.

As a manager of a furnishing company, I recommend a feature wall with a feminine pattern, such as flowers or swirls. Use a similar, yet slightly lighter shade for the remaining walls. Any furnishings should be a statement colour such as bright green or bright red.

Suggestion:

Cream and red swirls/flowers – feature wall
Cream walls – remaining walls
Deep red furnishings e.g. cushions, bowls, flower pots
And a cosy, cream carpet or laminate with a deep red rug.

If you have a fireplace, keep the focus around this, so have the feature wall around this fireplace.

Good luck
