Green Apartment Living Curious if anyone has asked their landlord to green their apartments.?

Question by : Curious if anyone has asked their landlord to green their apartments.?
I checked out this page for suggestions: http://www.rentitgreen.com/renters-tips
but wonder if anyone else has ideas on how to get landlord to make my apartment greener. I live in an older apartment in California and want to help the environment.
Cheers.

The lower cost ideas may be a possibility but unless you can present the rest of the green ideas as a way to increase your landlords profits, it is unlikely to happen. Does your rent include any of the utilities? If so, installing more energy efficient appliances, bulbs or heating/cooling systems may appeal. If not, then it will be a tough sell for you. Remember: a landlord is in business to make money not spend it. If the additional expenses do not translate into more cash in his pocket he would be foolish to do so. More profits can come in several forms: either in energy savings or in attracting more tenants/reducing vacancies.

I agree with the fact that landlords are more concerned about earning rather than spending money. Although, they're not altogether dismissive especially when your idea is all about making the home greener. Perhaps you can ask if it's possible to allow a small home garden in every renter's unit like what some landlords do with their West Linn apartments .
