I suggest you try Sedum - this contain 600 species of plants
that grow in temperate areas, and they don’t need much water. They can also tolerate high winds. These species are perfect for green roof.
By the way, I've seen the birthplace of the skyscraper last
year, and it certainly is something to be proud of as a Chicagoan.
