Question by Mike P: Russia 2014 Olympics “greenest games”?
Russia has begun plans to make the 2014 winter Olympic games in Sochi environmentally friendly. Do you think Russia 2014 Olympics will succeed towards the “greenest games”?

In terms of greenest games, they might actually succeed. First off, until the last couple of years, “green” wasn’t something really talked about which means the 2008 Beijing games were not really green beyond some of the things they did. The Vancouver games are going to be green but many environmentalists say that they have done a lot of damage in preparations for the games. The London 2012 games will not be as green as Vancouver and so Sochi, by default should be the greenest. The Russians are building the venues for the Winter Olympics in a very beautiful area by the Black Sea in Sochi and really not doing any major construction plans so the environmental impact will be very minimal.
