Question by path_integral_formulation: Do black people care about environmental sustainability?
I have never met another black person in my entire life who actually cared about sustainable development, the effects of global warming, or going green. Every time the topic of peak oil, alternative energy, water shortages, global warming or overpopulation pops up, I get ridiculed, and they ignorantly tell me that these are the beliefs of retarded white people, and that I’m caught up in the retarded white agenda. Now, I definitely know that there are lots of whites who also think that going green is retarded, but it’s not as 100% of whites or other ethnic groups (who I’ve met) think this way.
I’m not trying to incite any racial tension here, but I’m just curious about what most black people think about sustainable living. Again, I have NEVER met a black person (other than myself) who actually cares about the environment, or even acknowledges the existence of problems within it as legitimate problems.
PS: I’m posting this in the “green living” section rather than “cultures and groups” because I know that environmentalists are more likely to be reading this section, and are more likely to know environmentalists from different backgrounds.
@picaroon. I don’t live in a poor country. This is a high human development country that consumes more oil per capita than the USA.
