Sustainable Home Design Designing an Low Cost yet Sustainable building for orphanage. Any arguments on that?

Question by Tessa A: Designing an Low Cost yet Sustainable building for orphanage. Any arguments on that?
Financial is the problem most orphanages are facing. So, in order to reduce the cost of orphanage,
I’m planning to design/built an orphanage with low cost sustainable materials,
and also some energy saving stuffs. It’s better than just renting a high cost building(that could eventually equals to 2 low cost sustainable orphanage).

Is that logic? Any argument on that? :)

Sounds like a great idea. But I am a firm believer, that if there is an orphanage in your area that needs help already, direct your assistance to an existing known location.
Help them use sustainable ideas, recyclable materials in their growth.
2 struggling orphanges are not better than 1 doing pretty good.
Yes renting is very expensive.
The land cost, city building permits, archetural drawings, city business permits, permits to deal with minors, all that is expensive, direct that money to an existing orphanage.
For academic purposes, terms like low cost sustainable, what exactly does that mean, do you really know?
a, find an architect to design such a facility for you
b, go to the city and ask about permit costs, city taxes, state taxes etc *hidden costs you may not know of
c, find a large church that has an existing building that they may donate the use too
d, going solar is not cheap, look into getting large companies donate.
In the US, Home Depot, manufacturers of things you need, early in the year have budgets to help communities, learn who and how to request, and what guildlines they ask for in return.
Utilize the help of community centers, boy scouts, girl scouts, local charities, womens leagues and clubs, mens clubs, churches, and speak to governmental persons in your area that might be able to help.
You have great logic, your thinking do this realistically.
What are sustainable orphanges, where will the money come from from day one of it opening, find that answer too. Good luck, great though, project, and maybe, someday, you will be a part of something like this, there is something out there for someone with your lust of life and talents!
