Question by mkt: If you use green products in a restaurant, do you have to dispose of them differently?
For instance, in my city recyclable products must be disposed of in the recycle dumpster. If I use compostable green plates, etc can they just be thrown away from the “main” trash or must it be done differently?
I understand all cities/states are different. I was just trying to understand how you’re being green if it all ends up at the dump anyway.

Buying compostable plates and then discarding them would be silly; you probably pay extra for them and then if you just send them to the dump, you’re missing the whole point.
Ideally the restaurant would be composting food waste, and the compostable plates would go in there as well. (Well… ideally it’s probably better to wash & re-use regular plates, but that wasn’t the question; maybe this is more of a fast food joint with no facilities to wash customer dishes?)
