What are the features of eco-cites, as in what the building and homes would be able to be green? How can they be eco-friendly? What cities are on their way into being true eco-cities here in the United States and other parts of the world?

Eco cities are the one who take pain to get their acts together such that they try to become carbon neutral. What is means is that they will try to reduce the consumption of carbon – the main energy source. this can be achieved by simple means of trying to keep the building temperature neither too cold or too warm and educate the citizens to wear appropriate clothing to make them comfortable, to design changes in building old and new to make then to reduce energy consumption. Examples of this can be like allowing more natural light to penetrate so that lighting cost could be reduced, Avoiding building houses etc facing the sun so that the cooling cost can be reduced, having better insulation to prevent heat penetration, having a high efficiency cooler system etc.
Any city which embarks on these can be termed as a eco city.
Almost all the cities world wide has a vision to become eco friendly but how many make it depends on the will and compulsion.
